Reusing mattresses
From expensive loss to valuable product
Our recycling factory takes in mattresses that, after our process, can be reused; either as a saleable product in a store, or perhaps as a new mattress on a comfortable hotel bed?
Our largest partner today is IKEA itself, which offers its customers a comfort guarantee on their mattresses. If the customer uses the guarantee, the mattresses will no longer be discarded - but sent to us for inspection, cleaning and packaging, before it is returned to an IKEA warehouse for sale; currently in Norway - and soon across the Nordics.
On our production line, each mattress is thoroughly inspected, then sanitised using UV radiation and a disinfecting shower.
Using packaging machinery from our renowned partner, Dolphin Pack, the mattresses are compressed and labelled with an information sheet describing the process they have undergone at ReMadrass. They then return to the stores for sale and a new life. The same process can be used by furniture retailers or hotels — where we can turn a clear loss into a new product, in an economical and sustainable way.

Mattress repair
From waste to profit
Soon we will also have our repair line, which works to save mattresses that do not pass quality control for reuse. Here we take in mattresses with minor defects, such as stains, broken zippers or damaged covers. By offering new components for the mattress, or by changing the cover, we can - instead of destroying the mattress - make it as good as new, and send it back for reuse and sale - instead of being sent to the local recycling station.

Mattress dismantling and recycling
From environmental degradation to new resources
In Q3 2025 we are launching our recycling line for what we call "end-of-life" mattresses - mattresses that have served their purpose and would otherwise end up as residual waste for incineration. Instead, our solution recovers more than 90% of the mattress.
We will offer a turnkey solution for waste facilities, hotels, municipalities, and others. Through our collection points, being established at multiple locations around the country, mattresses are sent to our new facility.
There, the mattresses are dismantled, and the various materials are sorted and delivered for local recycling - with the exception of foam, which is sent to a newly developed recycling facility for processing, production, and reuse.
Our partners include Oslo Municipality Waste Services, Scandic Hotels, Innovation Norway, Handelens Miljøfond - and our local waste company, HRA.
